Fundación Espoir is a non-profit microfinance institution (MFI), established in 1992, offering microfinance services, combined with health and education services.

This mature institution is strongly rooted in the coastal region of Ecuador where it runs a network of six branches. Fundación Espoir is one of the most important MFIs specializing in the village banking methodology.

Fundación Espoir and Oikocredit have been partners for several years. Over the years, this MFI has enjoyed stable and positive performances. The organization has gradually extended the number of clients that are reached.

In the next few years, the MFI will focus on developing its individual loan products to become less dependent on village banking revenues as the funding source for its non-financial services. Finally, Fundación Espoir aims to become a regulated deposit-taking MFI.

Fundación Espoir has been an Oikocredit partner since 2003.
